Elma Fenton's design was awarded a Gold Medal in the Large Show category topping off months of hard work and planning. Elma remarks that "I am absolutley thrilled to have the honor of receving a Gold Medal. This show is fantastic and to be taking part in such a well organised event is such a pleasure." In fact not only were the judges praising Elma's garden, President Mary McAleese remarked "I love it" as she was on the official walk about on Thursday morning. The garden is about enjoyoing your outdoor space keeping in mind our environment and how we can use, reuse and recyle materials. The focal point of the garden, the swimming pond, is filtered by natural planting and uses rainwater which runs off a magnificent bird like pavillion. In fact the garden has been a hive of activity over the first few days of the event, with children and adults enjoying the wonderful refreshment of a dip in the pond. Also on Thursday the beautiful oak boardwalk provided a sound catwalk for the exciting Tesco Ireland Fashion Show of which there were three in all. Many thronged to see the models glide around the pond border to a great music mix and much applause. Bloom was open from 10.00am to 6.00pm Saturday Sunday and Monday over the June bank holiday weekend with food fairs, music and great festival atmosphere for all to enjoy. The garden referred to as the 'Circle of Life' takes a prominent position within the grounds of the Delta Centre, making it a special space to coincide with the interactive building. The "Circle of Life" garden is a gathering and social space foremost. This ethos gives an opportunity for a meeting place, conversation, rest and play. Elma has gathered various different aspects of her trademark ecological designs to ensure the space encompasses the people taking time out to visit the garden. The essential requirement of life - 'Water' is projected through an eye-catching water ball sculpture. The power and force of water is manifested in this ball adding excitement & delight. Water jets provide wondrous sounds and sights and give the garden a melody to appreciate. Simultaneously the dancing rods with glass sculptures play with light during day and night. "I wanted to create a strong sense of arrival and place, a garden to evoke emotion". A simple yet strong planting structure has significant trees under planted with flowing ochre grasses and seasonal colour offers from bulb planting.
